Four Danish film score composers, Asger Baden, Louise Alenius, Peder and Jonas Struck have joined forces to create their own filmic universe in an album consisting of 11 French songs.
Their unusual combination of words, notes and accents takes us far from Scandinavia into a theatrical underworld of twisted French fairy tales carried out in the »Chansons« tradition. The mood of the album shifts between dark and sultry, naive and uplifting, bringing the films of Tim Burton and David Lynch to mind; one moment you are drawn into a 50’s murder mystery full of intrigue and mysterious riddles, next you are watching characters on strings in a 19th Century puppet theatre. It is music to be accompanied by your own visuals – acoustic instruments with splashes of electronic detail, combined to create intense atmospheres accompanied by the fragile, melancholic voice and playful lyrics of Louise Alenius. While the tracks »Mes larmes secrets« and »1, 2, 3« (Un, deux, trios) have a more classic innocence about them, the more upbeat first single »Cache cache« is a concoction of jazzy nightclub sounds merged with old-school surf ambiances.
The album has been produced by Peder and will be released in Denmark, october 2009, and in cooperation with Lizardshakedown and Fake Diamond. Cours Lapin performed unforgettable shows at the Danish music business festival, Spot 2009 - and Roskilde Festival 2009.
